Schools - General Information

More than 50,000 students from all over our community participate in curriculum-enriched field trips at the museum each year. The museum’s educators, all certified teachers, facilitate guided learning experiences that support classroom learning in literacy, science, math, history, economics, social studies and health. Classroom teachers can select from a variety of programs geared to their grade level.

Reservations are required for all reserved field trip tours. Tours may be scheduled Tuesday through Friday, October 2009 through May 2010. Tours may also be scheduled on Mondays during the months of December, April and May.For further information or to make a reservation, please contact the Education Department at educationinfo@magichouse.org.

Little Bit of Magic Tours are available at 9:00 am and 9:45 am.
Children’s Village Tours are available at 9:00 am, 10:00 am and 11:00 am.
Classic Tours are available at 9:15 am, 9:45 am, and 10:15 am.
Mystery Mezzanine Tours are available at 9:30 am and 10:30 am.
Star-Spangled Center Tours are available at 9:30 am and 10:30 am.

Homeschool Organizations
On select Mondays from 9:30-11:30 am, homeschool organizations can visit The Magic House! The two-hour reserved program includes exploration of the museum and special educational programming. The discounted admission rate for this program is $5.50 per person and children under the age of 1 are free. Select Mondays reserved for the 2009-10 school year are: October 5, November 2, January 11, February 1 and March 8.

Field Trip Rate
The field trip rate is $5.50 per person for students and adults. One teacher per classroom is admitted free of charge. Regular admission is $8.50 per person. Because adult interaction is an integral part of every tour, one adult for every five students is required.

Groups that would like a self-guided tour of The Magic House may visit after 12 noon, Tuesday through Friday. Groups of 15 or more that include one adult for every five students will receive the group rate of $5.50 per person.

Grade Level Expectation (GLEs)
The content of all education programs at The Magic House is consistent with the statewide academic requirements identified by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. The GLEs satisfied by each Magic House program are noted below the program description.
