What's Happening at The Magic House!
We are now “so much more!”
Thanks to the opening of our new expansion, The Magic House has “so much more” to offer with exciting new field trip and outreach programs. New galleries include the Star-Spangled Center, the Sunshine Classroom and the Mystery Mezzanine, unique learning environments, housing new exhibits and educational program offerings.
But the fun doesn’t stop there! Elementary tours will now include a visit to POP!, a new gallery exploring the science of bubbles.
New Outreach Program
Show-Me-Science invites students to encounter the amazing power of air, celebrate the center of gravity and observe the shocking effects of electricity. This extraordinary science demonstration utilizes chirping chicks, jumping coins and flying paper to illustrate the physics of everyday life.
New Field Trip Programs 2009
Law or No Law explores the framework for the law-making process, inviting young Representatives to climb Capitol Hill creating a bill in either the House or the Senate, following it through committees, a vote and finally to the President’s desk!
Can You Solve the Mystery? Future investigators will put their skills to the test in this forensic science challenge to unravel the mystery of the missing masterpieces. An examination of evidence invites students to explore the secrets of investigative science and help close the case once and for all!
Mock Trial allows students to better understand the Judicial branch of government. Students practice communication and critical thinking skills to prepare and present their own mock trial case as they take on various courtroom roles and become familiar with the importance of the American court system in solving disputes.
