Making and Makerspaces

Exploring the creation and integration of Makerspaces and the Design Thinking Process

Join our educators at MADE for Kids, the new satellite location in the City of St. Louis. Explore our Makerspace; engage with the exciting technology and activities our facility has to offer. MADE for Kids educators will walk you through the ideas and philosophies of the Makerspace movement as well as give you insight into how we designed our space. Teachers will also get the opportunity to get hands-on with the design thinking process and engage in one of our Design Challenge field trips.

STEM Storytime Structures

 Design Challenges Inspired by Children’s Literature

Join Magic House educators at MADE for Kids, the new satellite location in the City of St. Louis to discover how children’s literature can inspire hands-on engineering design challenges perfect for the Pre-K classroom. Utilizing simple everyday materials, workshop participants will engage in sample challenges that can be taken right back to their classrooms.

Books as a JumpstART

Integrating Children’s Literature and Hands-on Art Exploration

Books are a wonderful jumping off point for learning of all types. In this engaging and fun workshop, The Magic House will present children’s literature with accompanying art projects that support Missouri Early Learning Goals in Language and Literacy, while supporting Learning Standards in Visual Arts Scope Pre-K. Participants will enjoy exploring art through creation of projects that can be integrated into daily curriculum using basic classroom materials.
