Argentina’s Niños Returns to The Magic House Just in Time for the World Cup

ST LOUIS (June 11, 2026)  Families will feel like they have traveled to South America as they explore Argentina’s Niños, returning to The Magic House Saturday, June 13. The exhibit’s opening comes at a moment of global excitement, as Argentina takes the World Cup stage in nearby Kansas City on June 16, making this immersive cultural experience especially timely for families.

Featuring five interactive environments, Argentina’s Niños introduces children to Argentine culture, language, and traditions through hands‑on play. Visitors explore an Argentine school where they are introduced to Spanish and learn about Casa Rosada (the Pink House), the office of Argentina’s president, similar to the United States’ White House.

Honoring the country’s deep love for fútbol (soccer), children can step into the excitement of the game by dressing in an Argentine national team kit, taking a penalty shot, and posing with a life-size cutout of legendary player Lionel Messi. With Argentina competing in the World Cup just days after the exhibit opens, families can celebrate the spirit of the game while learning how soccer connects communities around the world.

At the market, families will shop for produce, visit a bakery for a sweet treat or stop by the butcher to gather ingredients to grill a traditional Argentine family meal. Inside a traditional home, children can pretend to make empanadas and mate, a popular Argentine drink. The exhibit also introduces families to gauchos and life in the countryside, with opportunities to explore the Andes Mountains through active play.

A colorful replica of La Boca, one of Argentina’s most vibrant neighborhoods, invites children to contribute to a collaborative street‑art mural inspired by the real streets of Buenos Aires.

Argentina’s Niños is part of The Magic House’s cultural exhibit series, designed and fabricated by The Magic House, St. Louis Children’s Museum, to introduce children to cultures from around the world. The exhibit debuted at The Magic House in 2019 and has since traveled to children’s museums across the United States.

“We are excited to bring Argentina’s Niños back to the World Traveler Gallery at such a meaningful moment,” said Beth Fitzgerald, President of The Magic House. “With Argentina competing in the World Cup just a few hours away, families have a unique opportunity to celebrate global culture, sports, and play all in one place.”

This was in the 2022 press release, do we still need to give the kents credit? This immersive exhibit is designed for children ages 3 to 12 years and was created in partnership with the Argentine Society of St. Louis. Argentina’s Niños is generously made possible by the Kent Family Foundation.
